The Kolkata high court on Friday confirmed the death sentence of three people -- Alok Nath Dutta, Mrinal Dutta and Shiv Shankar Roy -- for killing a relative in 1994 over a property dispute.

A division bench comprising Justice Alok Basu and Justice P K Deb rejected the appeal of the three accused against a city court's 2003 judgment.

The bench also confirmed the life imprisonment awarded to Mamata, Alok Nath Dutta's wife.

They were all found guilty of murdering Biswanath Dutta, Alok Nath Dutta's elder brother.

Biswanath was throttled to death on January 22, 1994 and his body was hidden in a wall almirah in their Beadon Street house.

Shiv Shankar is Alok Nath Dutta's brother-in-law, while Mrinal is Shiv Shankar's brother-in-law.
