Heavy monsoon showers in Delhi

June 29, 2005 18:16 IST

Arriving in the capital a couple of days ago, the monsoon on Wednesday made its presence felt, with Delhi receiving heavy showers leading to traffic jams and waterlogging in several areas.

According to the Meteorological Department, 13.6 mm of rain was recorded in Delhi, which brought the midday temperature to below 30°C.

Describing the rains in the city so far as normal, the weather office said Delhi has received 80 to 90% of expected rainfall in the last couple of days.

The wet weather was expected to continue, with weather officials forecasting a cloudy sky for the city over the next 48 hours.

They said Delhiites could expect a few spells of rains or thundershowers and the maximum temperature was expected to stay at a pleasant 34°C.
