Avalanche toll in J&K rises to 252

The toll in avalanche-hit Jammu and Kashmir [Images] has gone up to 252 while 50 are reported missing.

With 196 dead, Kashmir has borne the brunt of nature's future.

The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway continues to be closed.

With rescue operations entering the third day on Wednesday, 373 have been saved in Kashmir and 73 in Jammu, police officials say.
