A military court in Bangalore on Thursday ordered the dismissal of Indian Air Force Flying Officer Anjali Gupta from service finding her guilty of seven charges including insubordination. The punishment is subject to confirmation by the Chief of Air Staff.

''The GCM has found Flying Officer Gupta guilty on five of the seven charges against her, including indiscipline, financial irregularities and insubordination, and recommended she be cashiered from service,'' Squardon Leader Mahesh Upasani said.

However, the recommendations have to be approved by the Air Headquarters in Bangalore.

Upasani also said that the Court of Inquiry constituted to probe the allegations against several senior officers by Gupta had found them 'baseless'.

"The court, comprising then Director General Medical Services Air Marshal Padma Bandopadhyay -- the force's first woman Air Marshal -- and a member from the Karnataka State Women Commission probed the charges by Flying Officer Gupta, despite the fact that the officer never turned up for the hearings," he said.

The body found all of Anjali's allegations to be untrue, Upasani said.
