Meanwhile, operations at Mumbai airport have improved on Tuesday after Monday's disruption, though it was shut for a brief period from 5 am to 5.45 am due to poor visibility, airport sources said.

In the last 12 hours ending 8 am, 10 international departing flights and nine incoming flights were cancelled. One incoming flight from Muscat went back to its destination, airport officials said.

Schools and colleges continued to remain closed for the second day on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, municipal authorities are busy in clearing tonnes of garbage from various places and disinfecting the areas simultaneously, officials said.

Electricity supply and water supply remains affected in some areas of the metropolis and municipal authorities have

Trading at Bombay Stock Exchange has commenced on a normal note and attendance is much better than Monday.

Attendance in banks and other offices was also reported to be better than Monday.

People, who were worst affected in many low lying areas including Chembur and other places, have shifted to safer
