Noted scientist Prof S Chandrashekhar passes away

Renowned scientist Prof S Chandrashekhar, a pioneer in liquid crystal research died in Bangalore on Monday, family sources said.

The 73-year-old veteran scientist is survived by his wife, a son and daughter.

Prof Chandrashekhar, a student of the Nobel Laureate Sir C V Raman, was closely associated with the Royal Institute of England.

He founded the Centre For Liquid Crystal Research in the city. A fellow of Royal Institute, Prof Chandrashekhar has won several awards, including from the prestigious Royal Society.
