Bihar police may arrest Sunny Deol

Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna | June 24, 2004 20:55 IST

A Bihar police team will soon leave for Mumbai to arrest action superstar Sunny Deol in a case of cheating.

The case has been filed by Arvind Kumar, a film distributor in Vaishali, who claims Deol's Vijeta Film Company owes him Rs 20 lakh. The money was paid for distribution rights of 'Gandhi', a film that Deol's company planned to make.

The film never went into production, but Kumar was not paid his money back.

The Vaishali district and sessions court recently rejected Deol's plea for anticipatory bail.

Vaishali Superintendent of Police H N Deva confirmed that his officers have been in touch with the Bandra police to arrest the actor. "After arresting Sunny Deol, our police team will bring him to Hajipur district headquarters of Vaishali," Deva said.

Deol's lawyer in Patna, Amit Srivastava, however said a bail plea will be filed with the Patna high court on the actor's behalf.
