Blast behind Pak envoy's house in Nepal

June 10, 2004 15:19 IST

Unidentified persons hurled a petrol bomb at the residence of Pakistan Ambassador Zamir Akram at Tangal in the Nepalese capital.

A petrol bomb was hurled on the open ground behind the Pakistani Ambassador's residence at 8.30 pm last night, but no damage was caused, First Secretary at the Embassy Kamal Ahmad said.

An investigation has been lauched, but arrests have been made so far, he added. Security has been beefed up in and around the embassy following the incident.

Denying a Maoist hand in the incident, police suspect that it was the result of an internal squabble between sweepers at the Ambassador's residence.
