Handicapped... but not helpless

July 10, 2004 00:57 IST

A physically disabled youth, desperate to land a job to help support his family, on Friday showed West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee his ability to write with his legs.

Nepal Mahato, Congress MLA from Jhalda, had taken Jagannath Mahato, a resident of Baghmundi village in Purulia district, to meet Bhattacharjee at his Writers' Buildings chamber.

Jagannath, a BSc part-I student of J K College, Purulia, was born without his hands but did not allow it to deter him from pursuing his normal work and studies.
