Tripathi sent to police custody till September 30

A CBI court on Tuesday remanded former Uttar Pradesh minister Amarmani Tripathi, who was arrested on September 21 in connection with the murder of poetess Madhumita Shukla, to police custody till September 30.

Special Judicial Magistrate R M Yadav ordered that the CBI should take custody of the accused from 0600 IST on Wednesday.

Tripathi, who recently joined the Samajwadi Party, was on Tuesday remanded to judicial custody till October six.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav had on Monday asserted that the Samajwadi Party would not take any action against Tripathi despite his DNA samples matching that of the foetus of Madhumita's unborn child.
