A day after attacking a top police official's convoy, Naxalites belonging to the outlawed PWG on Saturday night attacked and looted a police station in Dantewada district killing a constable and abducting another, police said.

About 100 armed Naxalites attacked Gidham police station and blew up the front portion of the building with grenades, Dantewada police sources said.

They also injured seven police personnel, including a sub-inspector, before fleeing with arms and the abducted policeman towards Bijapur in a truck, police said.

They had blocked NH-16 before the attack and also made an announcement to this effect among the people.

On Friday, militants had attacked SP P Gautam's convoy near Dodari close to the Orissa-Andhra border.

While one police constable was killed in the attack and another injured, a woman injured in the crossfire succumbed to injuries on Saturday morning, police said.
