Hindujas can go abroad till July 21: Supreme Court

May 14, 2003 14:47 IST

The Supreme Court on Wednesday extended the permission granted to the Hinduja brothers to go abroad till July 21.

A vacation bench comprising Justice N Santosh Hegde and Justice Shivaraj V Patil granted the extension. Senior advocate Ram Jethmalani, representing the Hindujas, brought up the matter before the court.

While giving the extension, the bench said that as another bench headed by Justice M B Shah had heard the matter before, the application of the Hindujas will be placed before the same bench on July 21.

On February 27, the court had allowed the three brothers to go abroad together till May 2 even though the conditions attached to the bail granted to them by the court earlier stipulated one of the brothers to stay in India at all points of time.

The three brothers were allowed to go out of the country together for the first time on the eve of Diwali last year to celebrate the festival with their families in London.
