Expelled Bihar Samata Party leader forms outfit

Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna | May 02, 2003 18:18 IST

Expelled Samata Party leader P K Sinha on Friday formed a separate outfit called Loktantrik Samata Party.

The leader from Bihar claimed that several Samata leaders would join his new outfit soon.

Sinha, who was spearheading a campaign against Union Railway Minister and senior Samata leader Nitish Kumar, was expelled from the party along with two other legislators -- Ganesh Paswan and Bhai Birendra -- by party president George Fernandes last month.

All the three legislators were known loyalists of Fernandes, who swore by his name in their battle against Nitish Kumar. Last month the Nitish faction had expelled five leaders, including three legislators and two Members of Parliament, considered close to Fernandes for their anti-party activities.
