Arjun Munda takes oath as Jharkhand CM

Arjun Munda of the Bharatiya Janata Party was on Tuesday sworn in as the second chief minister of Jharkhand.

Munda was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor M Rama Jois at Raj Bhavan in a simple ceremony.

Thirty-five-year old Munda, who as the welfare minister in the previous Babulal Marandi government, has been asked by the governor to prove his majority on the floor of the House in seven days.

The five ministers who took oath with Munda were: Pasupatinath Singh of the BJP, Samresh Singh of the Jharkhand Vanachal Congress, Sudesh Mahato and Joba Manjhi of the All Jharkhand Students Union-UGDP and Independent Madhavlal Singh.

Samresh Singh, Joba Manjhi and Samresh Singh had rebelled against the government of Babulal Marandi, but returned to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance fold after Marandi quit.

Munda has submitted a list of 40 MLAs in his support to the governor. The state assembly has an effective strength of 79.

Is he competent enough to make things better. Babulal missed the opportunity as he was naive, hardly knew what to do with the great wealth ...
