No-confidence motion against Mayawati
government admitted

March 05, 2003 17:34 IST

An opposition sponsored no-confidence motion against the Mayawati government was admitted in the state assembly on Wednesday amidst vociferous protests from the Bahujan Samaj Party members.

Leader of the Opposition Azam Khan sought the consent of the house to move the no-confidence motion and the chair allowed it after it received the support of one-fifth of the members of the house.

Admitting the motion, speaker Kesri Nath Tripathi said the business advisory committee of the house would now decide the date for taking up the motion for discussion.
