President A P J Abdul Kalam will be presented a special robe with 4 inch-wide gold thread-work at the Jammu University's convocation ceremony on Thursday.

"All arrangements for the 11th special convocation of Jammu University have been done," Vice-Chancellor Amitabh Mattoo said in Jammu on Monday.

Describing it as a matter of prestige and honour for the Jammu University to have the President as its chief guest, he said as many as 25 committees have been working day and night to ensure that the function is a success.

The chief guest, chancellor and pro-chancellor will wear special robes with four inch borders of gold thread-work with gold thread tuft, he said.

Governor Lt Gen S K Sinha (retd), who is also the chancellor of the university, Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and Education Minister Harsh Dev Singh will take part in the function, Mattoo said.

The achievements of the Jammu University as one of India's leading research and teaching institutions will be highlighted at the function, he added.
