In a glaring security breach, an inebriated son of a Bihar minister intruded into the state legislative council and occupied for quite some time the seat of a Congress member.

The breach came to light when Bhola Prasad Singh (Rashtriya Janata Dal) told the Chair that a man in a drunken state had sneaked into the council and was occupying the seat of Sharda Prasad Singh.

Chairman Jabir Hussain said he had also noticed the activities of the person.

Hussain said the watch and ward staff had been informed that he was Vijay Ram, the son of Food and Civil Supplies Minister Puranmasi Ram.

The chairman ordered the eviction of the man, who was detained for some time. But he managed to slip out. Amid continuing commotion, the chairman ordered his arrest and production before the House on Saturday.

Puranmasi's brother Rajesh Ram, who was recently elected to the council, was present in the House when the incident took place. Vijay Ram was later arrested from the official residence of the minister.
