Naga talks: Manipur youths threaten immolation

January 18, 2003 15:38 IST

The newly formed Manipur Forward Youth Front on Saturday said over 10,000 of its members would immolate themselves if the territorial boundary of the state was disturbed during the Naga peace talks.

In a statement issued in Imphal, the MFYF said the youths would self-immolate at the historic Kangla, the place of ancient Manipuri rulers.

MFYF secretary general Sapamcha Kangleipal said about 100 centres will be opened soon to enlist volunteers from different parts of the state.

Kangleipal said Manipuris will not remain silent when their state is broken and the moment any change in territory takes place there would be 'an unending war'.
