ABVP activists blacken faces of
youths in Patna

Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna | February 14, 2003 19:46 IST

Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad activists on Friday blackened the faces of some youths, ransacked a card shop and disturbed couples in parks and hotels in Patna to protest the celebration of Valentine's Day.

Rohit Pandey, an AVBP leader said, "We blackened the faces of some youths to punish and warn them not to celebrate anti-Indian culture. There is no basis of celebrating Valentine's Day in our society."

The Shiv Sena, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the AVBP had earlier threatened to raid hotels, parks and all other secluded spots to disturb couples.

But despite these threats, a large number of couples celebrated Valentine's Day all over Patna.
