Janardhana Poojary new Karnataka PCC chief February 06, 2003 18:32 IST Former Union minister B Janardhana Poojary was on Thursday appointed president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee. He succeeded Allum Veerbhadrappa, who had expressed a desire to relinquish the post six months back. All India Congress Committee general secretary in-charge of the state, Vayalar Ravi, said in a release that party chief Sonia Gandhi had approved Poojary's appointment. Poojari, an OBC, had been president of the state unit and also general secretary of the AICC during P V Narasimha Rao's tenure as prime minister.
