Bihar MP's associates caught without tickets

December 27, 2003 20:31 IST

Three associates of a Member of Parliament from Bihar were caught for travelling without tickets at Kanpur Central Railway Station, police said on Saturday.

The three associates of Lalmuni Chaubey were traveling along with the BJP MP from Buxar in the AC First Class coach from Delhi in the Shiv Ganga Express [New Delhi-Varanasi] when a ticket examiner asked them about their tickets. They told him that their tickets were with Chaubey.

When the MP could not show the tickets of his associates, the TTE called the railway police.

The MP later paid Rs 10,796 as the cost of the tickets and fine for ticketless traveling on behalf of his associates.

Owing to this incident, the train was delayed for one-and-a-half hours at Kanpur.
