CBI team in Gaya to probe Dubey's murder

December 16, 2003 18:34 IST

A Central Bureau Investigation team on Tuesday began the probe into the murder of National Highways Authority of India engineer Satyendra Kumar Dubey.

The five-member CBI team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police T S Mann, which arrived from Delhi this morning, met Gaya Superintendent of Police Sanjay Singh to inquire about the circumstances of the killing and obtained the original copy of the FIR registered by the district police, official sources said here.

Unidentified assailants killed Dubey on November 27, triggering a blame game between the Bihar government and the Centre.

While Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Laloo Prasad Yadav alleged that Dubey was killed as the letter he had written to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee 'exposing' the loot of public fund in the execution of the Golden Quadrilateral Project was leaked, the

Union Ministry of Surface Transport and Highways contended that the murder was the result of poor law and order in the state.
