Din in Lok Sabha over Bihar DGP's removal

December 09, 2003 15:35 IST

Samata Party members on Tuesday raised a din in the Lok Sabha and criticised the Rashtriya Janata Dal government in Bihar for removing D P Ojha from the post of director general of police.

RJD members protested against the issue being raised in the House, saying this was a state matter.

Samata member Prabhunath Singh said action was taken against Ojha as he had the courage to publicly talk about the funds and arms being received in Bihar from Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence.

RJD leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh justified the action against Ojha and said he was removed from his post as he was publicly abusing political leaders and branding his own policemen as "corrupt".

Another reason for the action was that he had links with the banned Ranvir Sena, he said.

"Criminals are issuing statements in favour of Ojha," he said.
