Expressing anguish over the loss of innocent lives in Monday's twin blasts in Mumbai, the Hurriyat Conference on Tuesday asked the political leadership of the sub-continent to resolve disputes to guarantee durable peace in the region.

"Hurriyat Conference strongly condemns the Mumbai blasts in which innocent lives were lost," a statement issued by the 25-party conglomerate said.

The Hurriyat has always denounced violent acts, particularly those aimed against civilians, the statement said.
