DSP suspended for fake encounter

Imran Khan in Patna | April 26, 2003 17:50 IST

The Bihar government has suspended an absconding Deputy Superintendent of Police Maheswar Mahto of Manjhaul in Muzaffarpur for killing two persons in a fake encounter four months ago.

Mahto was the main accused in the fake encounter in which two persons of a wedding party were killed in an encounter in December 23, 2002.

The government took four months to suspend Mahto despite a public outcry against him.

A police official departmental investigation will be started against Mahto now that he has been suspended.
