Aishwarya discharged from hospital

April 09, 2003 02:26 IST

Actress Aishwarya Rai, who was being treated at the Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai after suffering a fracture in her left foot, was discharged shortly after midnight on Wednesday.

She was brought out on a wheelchair through the rear exit of the hospital at 0050 IST and whisked away in a Mercedes.

Her parents and brother were with her.

She drove straight to her Bandra bungalow La Mar.

"God has been extremely kind to me and I have come out of a near fatal accident," Rai said.

"She is 95 per cent pain free. She remained a good patient," said Dr Sanjay Agarwal, who attended on her.

Before leaving she cut a 10kg cream-coloured cake in the corner room of the 15th floor of the hospital.

The actress thanked the chief executive officer, doctors, nurses and other staff of the hospital for their attention.

Rai was admitted to the hospital on April 3 after a jeep accidentally hit her during the shooting of the film Khaki near Nasik.
