Monitoring committee in J&K announced

The much awaited co-ordination committee comprising nine members to monitor the implementation of the Common Minimum Programme of the coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir was announced on Saturday.

State Congress president Ghulam Nabi Azad has been appointed as its chairman.

All India Congress Committee general secretary Oscar Fernandes issuing a statement said, "We have pleasure in announcing that Congress president Sonia Gandhi has constituted the co-ordination commiittee consisting of various coalition partners in the state government."

The statement also said that Azad would be the chairman of the committee with Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma and member of Parliament Saif-ud-din Soz as other two Congress nominees.

People's Democratic Party vice-president Mehbooba Mufti and Rajya Sabha MP Trilochan Singh would be the nominees from the PDP, while Communist Party of India, Marxist, leader Mohammed Yousuf Tarigami would represent the Democratic People's Forum.

Rigzin Zohra would represent Ladakh Union territory Front and Haji Nissar Ali would be an independent nominee in the co-ordination committee. President Bhim Singh will represent the Panther's Party.

The alliance partners in the state government had agreed on October 26 to set up a coordination committee, which would monitor then implementation of the CMP adopted by the political parties.
