Opposition continues to boycott Fernandes in Parliament

December 19, 2002 13:02 IST

Major opposition parties on Thursday staged a walk-out in the Lok Sabha during Question Hour demanding a probe into the Tehelka issue by a Joint Parliamentary Committee.

They staged the walk-out as soon as Defence Minister George Fernandes rose to reply to questions.

Launching a vociferous protest, members of the Congress, Left parties and the RJD chanted slogans and shouted 'We don't accept' Fernandes as defence minister as he is yet to be cleared by the one-man commission whose chairman Justice K Venkataswami had quit recently.
