The talks between the People's Democratic Party and the Congress party on the expansion of the Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed remained inconclusive on Saturday on account of the absence of the Pradesh Congress Committee chief Ghulam Nabi Azad.

State Deputy Chief Minister Mangatram Sharma said Azad was likely to arrive in Delhi on Sunday.

The Mufti-Sonia Gandhi talks included senior Congress leader Natwar Singh.

"The meeting between the Congress chief and the J&K chief minister also focussed on other issues," the deputy chief minister said.

He added that the Mufti would stay in Delhi on Sunday and leave for Srinagar on Monday.

"I am meeting the chief minister tomorrow [Sunday] and maybe I can get more details about what transpired in their meeting," he said.

Asked whether the Cabinet expansion would be finalised by Christmas, Sharma said, "There is a distinct possibility."

He pointed out that if a decision could not be arrived on the expansion during the second round of the Mufti-Sonia talks, the Jammu and Kashmir chief minister may hold another round of talks on December 20 or 21.
