Naidu challenges Congress to issue Godhra white paper

Bharatiya Janata Party president M Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday challenged the Congress to come out with its promised 'white paper' on the Godhra incident.

"If Congress is so keen on bringing out a white paper on Godhra as stated in its election manifesto, let it do so now and come clean on its stand on this issue," he told reporters before starting his election campaign in the state.

Playing the Hindu card to the hilt, Naidu said, "The electoral fight in Gujarat, which is between nationalism and pseudo-secularism, is being watched by Hindus the world over with immense interest." He added that the BJP will expose the Congress for its encouragement of separatist elements in the country.

"Be it Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, or Assam, it is the Congress which has been responsible for separatist activities. In Punjab it was Bhindranwale, in Tamil Nadu it was the LTTE [Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam] and in Assam it was ULFA [United Liberation Front of Asom]," he said.
