'I knew that I wouldn’t last till the end but I wanted to try as many stunts as long as I was there on the show.'

Dayanand Shetty shares his Khatron Ke Khiladi experience.

Actor Dayanand Shetty of CID fame is the latest contestant to be eliminated from the stunt-based reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi.

“When I was offered this show, I knew I could manage the high rise stunts or the task which involved a pool of snakes or lizards, but I was a little doubtful about the water based stunts as I don’t swim.

“But my friends, family and co-actors convinced me and told me not to miss this opportunity,” said Dayanand.

The final elimination task involved the show's host, Rohit Shetty's favourite stunt with cars.

“I knew that I wouldn’t last till the end but I wanted to try as many stunts as long as I was there on the show.

“Taking part in the reality show has been a memorable and thrilling experience. It was like getting a medal on my uniform. I am very proud of myself.

“I felt confident because the crew was friendly and cooperative. Having Rohit Shetty as an anchor was like the cherry on the cake.”

'I got countless electricity shocks in one of the stunts but I hung on and completed it'

Was it easier for him to do physical stunts since he is used to doing stunts in his detective show CID?

“Stunts in CID are risky so it kind of prepared me for the stunts in Kathron Ke Khiladi... However, the stunts were very different here.”

Of the toughest task, the actor says, “We were asked to pick up coins from a cage which had electricity flowing from all sides. I got countless shocks but I hung on and completed the task.”

'Viewers liked the way I conducted myself on the show'

He says he missed the cast and crew of CID and “staying away from them made me homesick.

“The contestants were very friendly. In no time, they made friends, and would chat and hang out together. Being an introvert, I took some time to open up."

“I have made friends with Niketan Dheer and Rajneesh Duggal. I attended a couple of birthday parties after we came back from South Africa,” he added.

The tough looking actor got quite emotional and teary-eyed during his exit as other contestants hugged him and gave him a warm farewell.

“My favourite memory was my last day on the show where all the contestants and even the crew got emotional on seeing me leave. That meant a lot to me,” he said.

The macho actor, who’s known to break through doors in CID, is a favourite with young audiences. “Viewers liked the way I conducted myself on the show. People come up to me and said I was not too loud nor did I overreact when performing the tasks,” he says.

But at the end of the day, he admits, “I don’t think I am cut out for a reality show because you need to talk, joke or give that extra zing to the show.”

'It is difficult to shoot for CID and Singham 2 simultaneously'

He will be seen next in Singham 2 playing a police officer, with Ajay Devgn.

“I have already started shooting for the film. It’s difficult managing both CID and the film.”

Will he do more films?

“Really, I don’t know. Now I have to shoot for the entire month as they have increased the number of days CID will be telecast. It will be difficult for me to take up any other film after this,” he says.
