Sreejith Vijay, who shot to fame with last year's Malayalam hit Rathinirvedam, is doing the role of the young Sathya Sai Baba in the forthcoming film Baba Sathya Sai, directed by Telugu filmmaker Kodi Ramakrishna.

The shooting of the film will start soon.

In this exclusive interview, Sreejith Vijay talks about the film.

What is your role in Baba Sathya Sai?

I play the young Baba. There are certain important things happening in his life at that age. The role is really important for me.

When will the shooting start?

The shooting has been planned to start from May 10 or 15. I have been asked to get ready for the shooting from May 22.

How were you selected for the role?

The makers of the film had seen me in Rathinirvedam and thought I resembled Baba during his younger days.

I was called for a meeting in Hyderabad where I met the director.

Are you planning to do some research on Sathya Sai Baba before you actually start playing the role?

I did ask the director if I should do some research on Sathya Sai Baba, but he made me confident saying that they will make me do things they want from me.

I have no clues about speaking in Telugu, which is a totally alien language for me.

How do you feel playing this highly respected personality?

Frankly, I wasn't that serious when the call came from Hyderabad.

Pradeep Nair, who has directed me in my forthcoming film Cherukkanum Pennum made me realise that this was indeed a tremendous opportunity and it was then that I understood the magnitude of this role.

How religious are you in real life?

(Smiles) I go to temples and I would say I am a normal believer.

What are the other projects that you are doing right now?

I have completed the shooting and also the dubbing for Pradeep Nair's Cherukkanum Pennum.

I am currently shooting for Kadar Hassan's Friendship and will be shooting for Revathy S Varma's Mad Dad soon.
