September 18 is a special day for Upendra.

Not only is the day is birthday, but his much awaited Kanada film Rajani too is releasing on the same day all over the state. Birthday releases have always been lucky for Upendra. His biggest blockbuster Raktha Kanneeru was released on his birthday.

His last hit Budhdhivantha released a week after his birthday (on September 25, 2008) went on to break box office records. Upendra fans hope that even Rajani will bring luck to their favourite star as his last release Dubai Babu was a disaster.

Rajani is the remake of V V Vinayak's Telugu film Krishna (starred Ravi Teja and Trisha).

Rajani is a masala entertainer, according to its director "Thriller" Manju. Thriller Manju is a popular stunt director who has directed many successful films earlier. The film is produced by Ramu whose films are made on a larger canvass and have invariably top stars from the industry working in it.

Ramu says that Upendra's fans would love the package of comedy and action in Rajani. He is also quite appreciative of music director Hamsalekha whose compositions have already become popular in the market.

"Upendra is fabulous on the screen. His dialogue delivery, fights and dance steps are the major attractions. We have a number of comedy artists in the film. Rangayana Raghu, Sadhu Kokila, Bullet Prakash and Doddanna are superb in their respective roles. We have brought in Mukul Dev to play the villain, a perfect choice," says the film's director.

As usual, Upendra speaks very little about his own contribution to the film. "I would rather say Ramu as a producer of the film has done everything to make a good film. I share a good chemistry with Thriller Manju who has been working in most of my films as an action director. Working with him was a pleasant experience. I enjoyed working with several talented artists like Rangayana Raghu, Sadhu and others in this film.".

Bollywood's Arati Chabria returns to Kannada film industry after a long gap with Rajani.

Arati was quite excited to work with Upendra. "I had a terrific experience working in a film like Rajani which is an out and out entertainer with lots of glamour and action. Frankly I think it is my best role so far in Kannada films. I have always performed better in Kannada films. Even though I am proficient in Hindi, I have always found my dialogue delivery to be not-so-perfect in Hindi. In Kannada I mug my dialogues still I was able to understand the meaning and express better."
