The lovely Aishwarya Rai Bachchan just keeps getting better with each year at Cannes.

The actress looked like a million bucks when she walked the red carpet for the opening ceremony of the 64th Cannes Film Festival last night.

Aishwarya chose a spectacular Ellie Saab gown from the designer's Spring 2011 Couture collection and stuck to pastels like several other times.

Aishwarya works her look on the red carpet with a cute updo that accentuates her cherubic face and shoulders.

One of the first Bollywood personalities to appear at the event, Ash received a nod from several fashion gurus for her chic style.

Aishwarya's mother Vrinda Rai accompanied her to the inaugural event.

Aishwarya chose a Jimmy Choo cosma clutch to go with her one-shouldered Ellie Saab gown. The nail enamel is just perfection!

Ash, who's attending Cannes for the 10th time, has learnt the ropes to really shine in a global event of Cannes' stature.

And she's come a long way too -- from shoddy appearances in the early years to designer dresses and subtle make-up that spell international star.

Aishwarya comes out with flying colours except for the make-up. While there's nothing disastrous about it, it does look a bit greasy.

But all said and done, kudos to the actress and her style.
