Oops moment: When Ash, Deepika wore similar outfits

One of the most nightmarish things to happen to a celebrity is when they end up at social dos wearing something that's been spotted on someone else too. It doesn't matter if they are at different events or even at different times.

It's just a cardinal sin that is to be avoided at any cost. Actresses may have become adept at dodging this proverbial bullet but when a stray one does hit the mark, it makes for one helluva amusing anecdote.

Take, for instance, IIFA awards held earlier this year. We'll come to that (in)famous incident later.

The Golden Geese

The latest ditto moment belongs to Deepika Padukone and soon-to-be mommy Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Both actresses wore this intricately designed Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla outfit within a few days -- Ash to the designers' party and Deepika to DY Patil awards. While Ash had her reasons for choosing the dress, Deepika has professed her love for ornate Indian wear before here and here.

American reality TV star Kim Kardashian wore this funky Givenchy dress to the Teen Choice awards in Los Angeles in August.

Closer home, actress Jacqueline Fernandes attended Hello Fame awards in the same dress over the weekend.

Getting shorty

And now about the IIFA incident. It so happened that Bipasha Basu and Ameesha Patel turned up at IIFA awards wearing the same Ramona Narang dress.

While Bipasha quickly changed into a black, more event-appropriate gown, Ameesha was sporting enough to laugh it off.

An embarrassed Bipasha later took to Twitter to clarify about the incident which didn't go down well with Ameesha.

The actresses had a mild sparring session on the microblogging website before things finally cooled down.

Sequinned appeal

Kareena Kapoor wore a shimmery Dolce&Gabanna gown to the London premiere of Ra.One.

The gown was quite similar to Shilpa Shetty's Dolce&Gabanna number that she wore to the IIFA awards this year.

While Shilpa dispelled pregnancy rumours with her skin-tight version and was a total knockout, Kareena was her sexiest best with minimalistic make up and the naturally glowing skin.

Romping around town

Rompers have been quite a hit with B-Town ladies.

This Nandita Mahtani sparkly number was seen on Shazahn Padamsee, Priyanka Chopra, Sophie Choudry, a white version on Bipasha Basu, who wore it to the Paris Hilton bash and a blue version on Malaika Arora Khan.

Shazahn wore hers to a GQ bash while Priyanka wore the super comfy outfit for her appearance on reality show Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega.

Lacy ladies

Mallika Sherawat and Freida Pinto wore the same Alexander Mcqueen dress to two different events.

While Mallika flaunted her hourglass figure at a Cannes 2011 event, Freida, who seems to have the world's best stylist, wore hers to a Toronto film festival event last year.

Cover ups

Cover ladies Anushka Sharma and Sonal Chauhan sported the same Fendi top for two diferent magazine covers -- Anushka for Grazia and Sonal for Femina.

Sonal clearly wins this one with her wavy hairdo and the striking pose although it was Anushka who was first spotted in the blouse in Grazia's September issue while Sonal's Femina cover was for its November edition.

Neha Dhupia recently tweeted her picture from Durban in a Shahab Durazi gown that Mallika Sherawat had worn for the White House Correspondents dinner a while ago.

While Mallika had won brownie points for her dress, it's Neha who's fared better with red lips et all.
