Bollywood heroines have made a fortune playing beautiful college girls in the movies but very few have actually spent much time there in their real lives.

After looking at the educational qualifications of actors, here's a look at the academic records of the actresses.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Aishwarya studied at Arya Vidya Mandir High School in Mumbai, and then went to Jai Hind college for a year.

She switched to Raheja college to study Architecture, but left it midway to pursue a career in modelling.

Kareena Kapoor

She also registered for a three-month summer course in microcomputers at Harvard University in the United States.

After a year at the Government Law College in Mumbai, she realised Bollywood was her calling. Law's loss was Bollywood's gain.

Priyanka Chopra studied at La Martiniere Girls' School in Lucknow, then winged her way to the United States and Newton North High School in Newton, Massachusetts, and later John F Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

She returned to India and finished high school from the Army School in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.

She attended Jai Hind College in Mumbai. She wanted to become a software engineer or a criminal psychologist, but winning the Miss World title led to a career in films instead.

Kangna Ranaut

Kangna did her schooling in Himachal Pradesh. Science was her subject since she wanted to become a doctor.

She never made it to medical school. Instead, she moved to Delhi and joined a theatre group called Ashmita.

Sonam went to Arya Vidya Mandir School in Mumbai and then enrolled in the United World College of South East Asia to do a course in international studies, but gave that up.

She is currently studying Political Science and Economics from Bombay University, but doesn't seem to be getting far with it.

The well-travelled Katrina was born in Hong Kong. After her parents divorced, she moved to China and then Japan. She has lived in France, Switzerland, Poland, Germany, Belgium, Hawaii, and eventually her mother's home country England.

She lived in London for three years before moving to Mumbai.

She started modelling when she was 14. All that moving about left little time for any academic qualifications.
