Salman Khan and Asin starrer Ready, that opened in theatres today, has become that film that polarises critics and popular choice. Even as critics nod their heads disapproving the mindlessness that plagues the film, trade pundits report that the film is running to full houses and and the film's inital collections are staggering.

The initial response may be overwhelming but the fate of the film will be sealed only over the weekend. Amidst all the mayhem, Zoom TV's Omar Qureshi caught hold of the stars for a quick interview just before the film released.

The music of the film is already a rage, specially Character Dheela Hai. Was it your idea?
 
Salman: People keep on saying ke uska Character dheela hai, but it's not used in a positive manner, so we thought if we could use this punch in a nice way, it might work.

What's your take on the song? Don't you feel left out by not being a part of the first song of the film?

Asin: No, Salman has given me Dhinka Chika. So I am happy with it.

This is your second film together. How has the chemistry been so far?

Salman: Our chemistry has been great so far and we have so much in common except for the kind of people we date, clothes, sense of humour (laughs).  I feel Asin's a damn good girl. She knows exactly what to say and what not to.

Is Asin politically incorrect?

Salman: She is politically correct. You need to speak your mind and she does that. She'll tell you if she doesn't like anything but at the same time, she's doesn't hesitate in showing affection too.

She is extremely hard working. Even though she's worked for the last 35-40 years (laughs) that enthusiasm still hasn't gone; she wants to do good films. She is superb with her work; the energy that she shows on screen is phenomenal.

Salman stands by his friends, do you believe that's true?

Asin : Of course I believe it's true, I've known him since the last two films that we've done it's not only friends he helps but anybody who's in need of help.

When you first met Salman, were you intimidated by him, did you have any impression of him before you met him?

Asin : I always saw him as this big superstar but he's not aloof like stars are believed to be. He was very chilled out even when we met the first time on the photo shoot for London Dreams.

Salman: There was this phase some 15 years ago when I used to keep to myself and people thought I was an arrogant guy, that is because I used to do my work, go back home and even when I used to talk to someone, people said line maar raha hai (he's flirting) so that "Character dheela hai" used to fit in there without being true. (Sarcasm)

How did you change that image?

Salman: I am more interested in my work now, so when you are working, improvising, you meet a lot of people who think like you and you start enjoying having conversations with them.

Don't you get angry when people write wrong things about you?

Asin: Yes, you do get frustrated with false stories that come about but sometimes I do wish that I could go and strangle that person as I would be the last person to believe in "Any kind of publicity is good publicity".

Ready is a remake of a South Indian film like many of your earlier films. Are you trying to bring South films in mainstream Bollywood?

Salman: Heroism was missing in films, so for me to laugh and have tears in my eyes, I wanted to see a hero, and I am sure others wanted to see it too. And nobody was doing that, so I took the task upon myself. (Laughs). And even actors like Akshay and Ajay are doing remakes so I am sure it would work. With the technology being better and the language being simpler our performances are much in control now.

Who do you see as a superhero among today's actors?

Asin: Salman, because he has such a persona. He is charismatic and has a huge fan following that makes him the best.

How do you respond to the speculation about your marriage, like recently you said that you are not getting married?

Salman: Yes, I am not getting married for a while, I may want to have a child but from the right woman.

Do you think being possessive affects a relationship?

Salman: I am confused about this one, in a relationship you are never that possessive, you care too much so once you realise that that person does not want that much care then you automatically back off. For example: If there is a dog in one area and there are dogs and one bitch in another area.

So when one area's dog goes behind the bitch of the other area then the other dogs will throw him away that is caring. Pyar se samjhao, phir kodo se samjhao and then also if people don't understand then you let them be. Later on they come back to you, sabki train late chalti hai aur kabhi kabhi opposite direction mein chalti hai. (Jokes)
