Manish Malhotra: Equal focus should be given to collections
Ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra, who was the first designer to have a showstopper in India back in 1999, isn't too happy with media giving more importance to celebrities.
'All newspaper articles on fashion weeks speak more about stars than the designers. Urmila was the 1st actor showstopper 1999: i started it and now i see that its taken over the shows. celebraties all a part of fashion glamour and style just that equal focus media should give to collections to :-)' he tweeted.
He also clarified that he won't have showstoppers for his fashion weeks show, but couture shows. 'Now the challenge for designers will be to get as much focus on their work to :-) My fashion week shows now dont have showstoppers : but my couture shows will. And hope everyone will focus on my collection to specially all the young to be brides :-)' he added.
