There's something different about Ajay Devgan. Oh wait, it's not Devgan anymore now, is it?

The actor, who dropped the 'a' from his last name [it's Devgn now], is back with another comedy after Golmaal Returns. The film is the Diwali release All The Best helmed by Golmaal director Rohit Shetty. It also stars Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan, Bipasha Basu and Mughda Godse.

The film's promos look like another GolmaalPatcy N finds out for sure.

Why did you plan on releasing All The Best during Diwali? Is it because Golmaal Returns, which was also a Diwali release, became a hit?

We decided to release the film during Diwali when we first started shooting. Diwali is a period of celebration and entertainment. What better time to release a complete entertainer and laugh riot? Plus, the film does not have any double meaning dialogue. It is a clean comedy. All The Best can be the extension of anyone's Diwali party.

We have made a film that will work among all generations -- from children to grown-ups -- and that is why we planned our film for Diwali.

'All The Best is not a rip off of Uncle Samjha Karo'

How was your chemistry with Bipasha?

If you get along with your co-star and you like each other, then you have great chemistry on screen. At the same time, for the chemistry to work, the characters need to be well-sketched. All these things are present in All the Best.

Is All The Best a rip off of a Hindi play titled Uncle Samjha Karo?

All The Best is not rip off of Uncle Samjha Karo. In fact, Uncle Samjha Karo is a rip off of a French play. I can't talk about it much as there's a court case on the matter.

'We spent Rs 6.5 to 7 crore on the title song'

You have a very elaborate and expensive carnival kind of song for the title track. How did you pull it off?

My whole team was very prepared. They knew exactly what they were going to do, so half of the work was done. Planning is the most important part, and once that was done, the only thing left to do is execution.

We needed this elaborate song as the situation demanded it. We did whatever was required never mind the cost -- around Rs 6.5 to 7 crore! --  on that song.

Why have you dropped the 'a' from your surname?

This is something that I was asked to do although I didn't want to do it. There was pressure coming from my family too. I felt awkward changing it because I knew I would have to answer questions on why I changed it.

'I am very confident about All The Best'

How was it working with Rohit Shetty?

This is my fifth film with Rohit. We have known each other for over 19 years. He started out as an assistant director on my first film, Phool Aur Kaante. We have a great relationship which will keep going on.

Your film releases along with Blue and Main Aurr Mrs Khanna. What do you think about that?

I have seen my film and am very confident about it. I will watch the other films too and then answer this question.

'I don't think I need to change anything about me'

How much change do you think is necessary to stay in the game?

We all change and evolve. Change is the only constant thing. Some change for the good while some for the bad. We all learn from our mistakes.

What is the personal change that you want in your life?

Right now, I don't think I need to change anything about me. I think I am quite perfect. Change happens automatically.
