After not-so-impressive Oka Oorilo, cinematographer-turned-director Rasool picks up another contrived plot but displays the traits of a star maker.
The only novelty in Bhageeratha is that despite having action star Ravi Teja, young maker resists from big action episodes by relying more on 'cerebral conflicts' between Ravi and antagonist. Though the plot is inspired by Tamil hit Dhool, portrayal of an unconnected island is quite an exaggeration. After venting anger in Bhadra, lanky actor displays a lighter shade while Shreya yet again indulges in skin show. Baddy Prakash Raj convinces us as a greedy tycoon. Vijayakumar as the responsible village head is adequate. Chakri's tunes, however, are not up to the mark.
Action star Ravi Teja, who bounced back with Bhadra this time opts for a interesting screenplay. He uses more of brains than brawns to reform baddy Prakash Raj. He shows flair for light-hearted roles but all depends on the prospect of his latest release.
Pretty Shreya after impressing as a bride in three-character film again plays a bubbly lover. She should restrain herself in skin show to make a mark in Telugu.
Young maker Rasool who proved himself a capable cinematographer fails in Bhageeratha. This time he shows his taste for big action films but needs to discover fresh plots rather than rehashing old plots. His screenplay is good in bits and parts and needs to understand the `significance' of taut narration. However, his taste for comedy was evident.
Prakash Raj plays IAS-turned-business tycoon with conviction and holds your interest. Comedians Sunil, Venu Madhav and Brahmanandam tickle the laugh bones quite a few times.
Village-head Vijayakumar is assured by his IAS friend (Prakash Raj) that he would construct a bridge to link the island village to road. After waiting for long, Vijayakumar sends his son (Ravi Teja) to follow up. Meanwhile, Ravi falls in love with Shreya and she reciprocates. In the city, Ravi realises Prakash is no more interested in the bridge since he is a flourishing businessman now. He confronts him and Prakash ridicules him. You have to watch the movie to know the rest.
