TabuTabu's association with the Gulzar family goes a long way.

The actress, who considers the poet-filmmaker a father-figure, had starred in his last two directorial ventures Maachis and Hu-tu-tu.

She also played the lead in Gulzar's daughter Meghna Gulzar's directorial debut Filhaal.

Now, in a role that was first offered to Shefali Shah, Tabu has teamed up with Meghna on her new film Talwar.

Based on the Arushi Talwar murder case, the film also stars Irrfan Khan and Sohum Shah (of Ship Of Theseus fame).

Meghna began shooting for her new film early this week with minimum fanfare.

Apparently, Gulzar has given the film its title, just a he had has titled Megha's two earlier feature films Filhaal and Just Married.

A source close to the family informs, "It's a family tradition. Meghna wants Gulzarsaab to select all her films' titles."

The reclusive daughter of the poetic genius wants to keep the project under wraps because of the sensitive nature of the subject.

Shefali Shah, who was supposed to play a major role in Talwar, had to opt out because she had already alloted her dates for Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadakne Do.

Apparently, Meghna was very keen to have Shefali Shah play the role. But the actress's dates in June and July were taken up by Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do. She had no choice but to opt out.
