Amitabh Bachchan dines with British PM David Cameron

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, who was the guest of honour at a charity reception for an initiative for diabetes, met British Prime Minister David Cameron at his official residence. The event was hosted by Cameron's wife Samantha to mark the sixth anniversary of the Leicester-based charity Silver Star.

‘Samantha Cameron wife of PM UK, hosted evening at 10 Downing Street .. and PM David Cameron also present. A rare privilege for me !! Prime Minister David Cameron gave exclusive time to us in one of the many historic rooms of the Residence, 10 Downing Street,’ the 70-year-old actor tweeted.

This wasn’t the first time when he visited Downing Street which has been home to the British PMs. ‘Had been to 10 Downing Strt., many years ago when John Major, then PM hosted a dinner, for some of us Asian Community,’ he added.

Bachchan was present to announce plans for Mobile Diabetes units for UK, Goa and Mumbai. ‘I am International Patron for Silver Star Charity for Diabetes detection, where I have worked for years ! Units in UK, Goa, Mumbai. Initiated by Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP, unit mobile van in Mumbai named after me ..AMITABH. Another to be launched named after my father,’ he wrote.

Riteish Deshmukh joins Saif Ali Khan in London

Riteish Deshmukh, who recently finished promotions for his upcoming film Grand Masti, is now in London to shoot for Sajid Khan’s next comedy film Humshakals with Saif Ali Khan. 

‘Boarded- on my way to London - will start shooting for my buddy Sajid Khan's HUMSHAKALS with Saif- my 4th film with Sajid n 1st with Saif,’ he tweeted.

Buzz is that Bipasha Basu has been paired opposite Riteish while Saif will romance Tamannnah Bhatia.

Iranian-Swedish actress Maryam Zakaria and American performer Lauren Gottlieb are enjoying their time in India. The beauties recently visited choreographer Remo D’Souza place for celebrations and sought blessings.

‘GANPATI BAPA MORYA,’ Zakaria tweeted with a picture of them together. 

She shared another picture and added: ‘Me and Lauren at Remos place taking blessings from Lord Ganesha.’

Meanwhile, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar is in holy city Varanasi to seek blessings. ‘My First Time in Varanasi.Looking forward to early mrng Darshan of KASHI VISHWANATH, Har Har Mahadev !!!’ he updated.

Meanwhile, Anil Kappor carried out the Ganpati visarjan last evening. ‘Just did visarjan after a long day of shoot, feeling blessed. Ganpati Bappa Morya!’ he tweeted with a picture.

He recalled his old memories and added: ‘Very nostalgic remembering all my childhood days in Chembur. Aartis, prasads and friends.’
