Talat Jani's Sanatta -- The Silence is reportedly a remake of The Others (2001), starring Nicole Kidman.

Sanatta stars Juhi Chawla. The film will be shot in a start-to-finish schedule in Rajasthan from the third week of February. Jani's last venture Jeena Sirf Merre Liye starring Tusshar Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor was a remake of the old classic Anmol Ghadi.

Ramayana goes internationalSalman Khan

Bunty Walia
's Ramayana will see Salman Khan as Lord Ram and Sohail Khan as Lakshman. It is still undecided who will play Sita. Walia wants a foreign actress to play Sita since it is an international project. The exile will be shot in the jungles of New Zealand.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Khan's Maryada Purushottam Ram may also cast foreign artistes. "My film is an international product," he says. "I will leave no stone unturned to give it an international look." Scripted by Farrukh Dhondy, the film will feature Jackie Shroff as Ravan. The lead pair has not been finalised.

Preeti out, Saakshi inSaakshi

Preeti Jhangiani, who was slated to star in E Niwas's Tum, has now been replaced by Saakshi Shivanand. Saakshi will star with Saif Ali Khan and Aftab Shivdasani.

Saakshi made her debut in Hindi films opposite Ayub Khan in Sanjay, which vanished without a trace. She now has a successful run in the South Indian film industry. Recently, she was seen in Anubhav Sinha's Aapko Pehle Bhi Kahin Dekha Hain opposite Priyanshu Chatterjee.

Strategy to prop up SattaMadhur Bhandarkar

Even though Madhur Bhandarkar's Satta has won a lot of acclaim, it has fared poorly at the box-office. The director says, "It is disappointing to see that a film which has won raves from the critics has not found favour with the masses. Something will have to be done."

The film's Mumbai distributors have thought up a strategy to boost business. Shows have been organised only for women at Mumbai's Premiere theatre, where the tickets will be sold at a 50 per cent discount. The theatre will also serve tea and snacks to the audience free of cost.

History repeatedBina Rai

History will repeat itself as yesteryear actress Bina Rai's granddaughter Akanksha Malhotra (actor-producer Prem Kishen's daughter) will play the title role in Mashkoor A Chaudhary's Anarkali. Chaudhary was an associate of K Asif during the making of Mughal-e-Azam starring Dilip Kumar and Madhubala.

Rai played the title role in Anarkali (1953).

Last year, Akanksha made a forgettable debut in Umesh Mehra's disastrous Yeh Mohabbat Hai opposite Rahul Bhatt.
