First Look: Santosh Sivan in Makaramanju

A still from MakaramanjuNoted director Lenin Rajendran's upcoming Malayalam film Makaramanju has been in the news ever since the project was announced. It tells the story of legendary painter Raja Ravi Varma at a particular time in his life.

Well known cinematographer and director Santosh Sivan plays Raja Ravi Varma in the film.

Karthika, who was recently seen in the Tamil hit Ko, plays the female lead. Jagathy Sreekumar, Bala, Nithya Menon, Lakshmi Sharma and Saiju Kurup constitute the rest of the cast.

The film, which was shown
at various film festivals, has been well appreciated.


In the film, Raja Ravi Varma sets out to paint a masterpiece based on the mythological character of Pururavas. Pururavas was a king, who fell in love with the beautiful nymph, Urvashi. Raja Ravi Varma also falls in love with his muse named Anjali Bai (Karthika).

The shooting of the film took place at Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Mumbai. Madhu Ambat is the cinematographer and Ramesh Narayanan has composed the music.

Lenin Rajendran has directed some brilliant films in the past like Meena Masathile Sooryan, Swathi Thirunal, Daivathinte Vikruthikal and Mazha among others.
