Oscar winner Halle Berry's former husband Eric Benet has denied that he is a sex addict, as he has been referred to earlier.
But the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter admitted to being unfaithful to Berry when he was still married to her.
In an interview to abc.com, Benet said he went through a "series of emotional events, troubles, challenges and made some really, really stupid, painful mistakes." But none of his 'mistakes' included intercourse.
Benet, 37, had always maintained silence over the reasons for his divorce in October 2003, three years after they married. This is the first time he has voiced them publicly because he wanted to 'clarify misconceptions about him and his relationship' for the sake of his 12 year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
One of the main reasons for the divorce was because Benet disliked being seen as 'Mr Halle Berry' on the 2001 Oscar night when she bagged the award for Monster's Ball. He said it was "hard for me to inhabit the skin of that man. Not just that night, but pretty much every day."
