Sequels and remakes are not the only concepts up for grabs in Bollywood. Now, filmmakers want to make prequels as well.

After Pritish Nandy Communications [Get Quote] announced a prequel to Sholay [Images], now there is going to be one for Omkara [Images], Vishal Bhardwaj's critically acclaimed multi-starrer, featuring Ajay Devgan [Images], Saif Ali Khan [Images], Vivek Oberoi [Images], Kareena Kapoor [Images] and Konkona Sensharma.

"We are in process of working on a prequel," Kumar Mangat, who produced Omkara, says. "We just hope things fall in place before it takes off."

Though Kumar did not give out any more details, sources say that Bhardwaj is also keen on the idea. The move came after the director dropped his pet project Julia, apparently based on yesteryear actress Fearless Nadia. It is learnt that there were creative differences between producers UTV and Bhardwaj, which led to the ambitious project being shelved.

Since then, Bhardwaj has packed his bags and moved to Pune to write a new script, presumably the Omkara prequel.
