John has typhoid: Bipasha

Subhash K Jha | December 09, 2005 13:40 IST

Bipasha Basu and John AbrahamIt's a tough time for Bipasha Basu. When she received her boyfriend John Abraham at the airport on Wednesday night on his return from Afghanistan, he had to be hospitalised at Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital.

Coping with hospital trips and her workload isn't easy, but Bipasha seems to manage. She is shooting for Madhur Bhandarkar's Corporate, and visits John in the evenings.

Wish John Abraham

"John is fine," she says. "The tests are done. The results will take some time. He is being treated for typhoid. I'm trying to juggle my shootings, concert rehearsals [she will be performing the MTV Immies, on Friday night in Mumbai] and the hospital. It's not easy since I'm suffering from a viral attack myself! In fact, John and I fell ill simultaneously just before he left for Kabul. At this point, I'm unable to come to terms with the sudden turn of events."

Bipasha is so stressed that Bhandarkar called for an early pack-up. "She has been tense all day," Bhandarkar says. "But being a thorough professional, she didn't once let on that she  was suffering. She has been working as usual all day. But she would withdraw into a shell after every shot. I hope for her sake John recovers fast."

Incidentally, John is on the same floor as Amitabh Bachchan, who recently underwent surgery.
