The stunning City of Silk in Kuwait

A few years from now, a billion-dollar city will come up in Kuwait. Known as Madinat Al Hareer, the City of Silk in Subiya, Kuwait City, will cover an area of 250 square kilometres.

The $132 billion city will be divided into four main districts: educational city, finance city, leisure city and ecological city.

Madinat al-Hareer will have many bridges, a huge sports complex, convention centers, a duty free mall, and a 1,001 meter skyscraper.

It will also have an Olympic stadium, residences, hotels and retail facilities.

Around 450,000 new jobs will be created in the city. Around 700,000 residents can be accommodated in the city.

The city will be completed in ten years. The first phase of construction will be completed in 2012.

While the government has invested over $132 billion, several private investors are also part of the huge construction project.
