The California election results have ended their dream to become politicians.

Former chief executive officer of Hewlett-Packard, Carly Fiorina and former CEO of eBay, Meg Whitman lost the race to become California's next governor.

Carly Fiorina lost to Senator Barbara Boxer and Whitman was defeated by California Attorney General Jerry Brown. Both businesswomen ran a campaign promising to end California's economic woes.

In one of the most expensive election campaigns in California, Whitman, a billionaire Republican, spent $142 million to be California's next governor.

Though the campaign was flooded with funds from their personal earnings, Californians battling an economic turmoil were shocked at the expenditure of the former CEOs.
