Star attractions at the Delhi auto expo

India, one of the world's fastest growing auto markets, will see the launch of over ten vehicles, including small cars during the 10th Auto Expo.

India's biggest auto extravaganza to be held at New Delhi is expected to attract 2 million visitors.

Global carmakers including Toyota, Honda, Volkswagen, Suzuki, BMW, General Motors, and Indian heavyweights Tata Motors, Maruti and Mahindra & Mahindra will showcase their latest cars.

The Auto Expo is jointly organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) and the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) promises to be one of the best auto shows in the world.

The New Delhi Auto Expo will be held at Pragati Maidan from January 5-11. The New York Auto show held in April had 1.2 million visitors and the popular Shanghai Auto Show attracted 600,000 visitors.  In 2009, 30 big auto shows were held around the world.  further. . .

It has been an incredible year for the Indian auto industry, which beat the recession blues to record the highest sales in 5 years.

The passenger car sales totaled 133,687 units in November, 61 per cent more than the 83,121 sold last year, the biggest rise since February 2004.

The auto expo will see 2,100 participants from vehicle and component manufacturing, financing companies and other exhibitors from 30 countries. Compact cars are set to be the biggest attraction at the auto expo.

The auto giants will also launch a slew of environment friendly cars. While Toyota will unveil Prius hybrid, Honda will exhibit the CR-Z Concept 2009, a concept model for a new hybrid.

GM will also unveil an electric version of the Spark mini car that it is building in partnership with Reva. Hyundai will also unveil the electric version of its i10 mini car.

A
family car 'Eeco' with a 1,200cc petrol engine in the under-Rs 400,000 segment comes from Maruti Suzuki. Maruti Suzuki will showcase 17 vehicles at the forthcoming Auto Expo in January 2010.

Audi R8

Audi will showcase 100 years of automotive innovation at the 10th Auto Expo. On display will be a concept car, a historical car and the Audi India product range.

Toyota will launch the concept of its small car for India. Toyota's compact car is named the 'Entry Family Car' or 'EFC' and is expected to be priced at below $10,000.

Toyota will also showcase the redesigned Prado and Fortuner SUVs and Innova. The company will also display i-REAL personal mobility vehicle and the 'Fine-S' fuel-cell hybrid vehicle.

Chevrolet Spark, Beat

The Chevrolet Beat slated for a launch in January is expected to cost between Rs 350,000 to Rs 500,000. The compact Beat will be city-friendly and promises good fuel economy.

The production and concept vehicles which will be displayed include the company's hybrid sedan Chevrolet Volt, sports-car Chevrolet Camaro, sports utility vehicle Captiva Extreme, electric version of its small car Spark, CNG version of Chevrolet Aveo and its race car WTCC Cruze.

Figo is a four-door hatchback, powered by an indigenous diesel and petrol engine, and will cater to both the domestic and international markets.

In a bid to promote clean technologies, Hyundai Motor India will unveil the electric version of its popular compact car, the i10, which had made its world debut in New Delhi.

Hyundai i10 Electric is an all-electric zero-emission vehicle for customers looking for a vehicle with the best possible ecological footprint.

Hyundai already has a strong line-up of best-selling models with alternate fuel technology like: Santro CNG, LPG, Accent CNG & LPG and i10 CNG in India.

Tata Motors will showcase the Tata Indicruz to add more glitter to its existing range of cars. It is based on the platform of the Tata Safari and will sport the 2.2 litre Dicor Engine. It is likely to be priced at Rs 900,000.
